Manbuilders is a great way to find practical ideas and experiences on what to teach boys.
How do I use ManBuilders?
Parents, we need help in raising our boys! ManBuilders posts practical articles that are organized into categories using some of the ManBuilding Ideas. We do not claim to have “the way” to raise boys. We are not experts, just parents willing to share what worked and what didn’t when teaching our sons.
Who are we?
We are Joshua and Rebecca, Jacob (11), Jordan (9), Johnathan (7), Jonah (6), Jared (5).
Our children were born very close in time with each other and we became common faces at our local hospital back in Arkansas. This commercial of our family was taken in 2006, before our last son Jared was born.

When did you decide to do this?
Dad realized that he was not being consistent in what he taught his sons. In fact, he was not teaching them many things other than his bad habits. So the question arose, “What should every boy know on his way to becoming a man?”. At that point, the desire to establish a base of core skills was born.
Why should I use this site?
It is tough to become a man these days with so many conflicting messages in the marketplace of ideas. The influences of the media and decline in moral values within American culture have led to confusion among what it means to be a man. Having the skills to function in today’s world is much different from what it looked like just a few decades ago. Men need help, and it starts with boys.
Ask a man, “When did you know that you became a man”, and you will get a variety of responses. If there is an answer at all, it would likely include:
- The first time he drank alcohol
- The first time he had sex or viewed pornographic material
- The first time he did some crazy death-defying dare (although he probably had fun!)
- Any variation of the above three or combination thereof
There is much more to becoming a man than these things. These acts symbolize something, just not being a man.
What lead you to build this site?
We could have tracked what we taught our sons with personal documents and spreadsheets, but what a waste that would be! It was decided that we would share this content on the web and promote it via social media to get the word spread as far as possible.
